From the director: This film showcases a medical insensitivity experience that ended up leaving a long lasting effect on a young woman. This film is an attempt to showcase a negative experience in its true authentic state to empower other women to speak up about abuse, assault, medical insensitivity, and foul experiences in life.
I’ll start out by saying that this film was hard for me to make, it’s based off a true story and it happened to me.
I dealt with medical insensitivity in one of the most precious areas of my body, and I know I’m not alone in that. I felt it was important for me to film this experience to create an authentic visual piece and a voice for all other women who have gone through the same thing. We often hear testimonies from women talking about their experiences but we never see them. Ultimately, that was the trigger; I was always hearing about experiences but never seeing them.
I see filmmaking as a powerful unapologetic tool, a tool where you can show the good, the bad, and the ugly with a purpose and a hope for change by injecting awareness into senses.
As a first time Director, I had no idea what I was doing. I feared being a female Film Director and not being taken seriously. From pre-production, to set, to post-production, the fear never left me. I think that fear was the reason this film was made, without it I don’t know if I would’ve pushed myself this far.
Fear is one hell of a competitor and I was ready to brawl.
