This is Persephone’s Daughters, a lit magazine dedicated to empowering women who have experienced various forms of abuse and degradation. We publish our issues on a quarterly basis, one issue in September, one in January, and one in May.
Persephone: once abducted by Hades, queen of the underworld, vegetation goddess, protector of young girls.
We want your poems & prose, your artwork of all forms, your blackout poetry, your essays, your howls & cries. We want your hearts.
If you identify as female and have experienced any form of gender-related abuse (sexual, emotional, verbal, etc), or degradation (harassment, catcalling, threats, etc), we’d love to hear from you.
Even if you don’t identify as female, we’d still love to hear from you- just please stick to the subjects mentioned above, whether you’re writing/submitting artwork about these kinds of experiences the women in your life have had, or ways in which to prevent these issues, etc.
The aim of this lit magazine is to empower women, but it also aims to be completely inclusive in regards to applicants/contributors.
We love you. We’re not here to tell you to stay strong, because you’re already doing exactly that.
